Obituary of Elizabeth Hilton

Elizabeth "Betty" (Gulrich) Hilton of Twinsburg, formerly of Mogadore, passed away on May 10, 2018, from complications of fronto-temporal lobe dementia.

Betty was a graduate of Suffield High School and Kent State University.  A resident of Mogadore for over 45 years, she is remembered by many in and around town as the "Aerobics Lady," helping countless women, and a few guys, get fit in classes she taught at O.H Somers Elementary, Mogadore High School and Mogadore United Methodist Church over three decades. Betty shared her love of her family's roots by teaching Hungarian dance lessons to multiple generations of children and adults at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and the Hungarian-American Club of Akron.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband James L. Hilton, parents Leslie and Elizabeth Gulrich, sister Judy Smedley, and step-daughter Janis Jupin.  She is survived by sons Jim (Amy) Hilton, Steve (Dawn Marie) Hilton, step-son Larry (Rebecca) Hilton, step-daughter Laurie Hilton (Devon Reis), brother Leslie Gulrich, sisters Jeanie Cornelius, Helen Hanlon and Julie Kolosky, grandchildren James, Jack, Abigail and AudreyAna Hilton, and many nephews and nieces.  She also leaves behind a wonderful group of caregivers who she called friends - Kris, Judy, Cora, Lisa, Karen, Elizabeth and Linda - who unconditionally cared for her until the end.

A public graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 12 at 9:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, 3809 Mogadore Road, Mogadore OH.  Friends and relatives can call on the family at an open house on Saturday, May 12 from 1:00-4:00 at 9675 Chamberlin Trail, Twinsburg OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elizabeth T. Hilton Scholarship Fund (www.ethiltonscholarship.com), which the family has established to provide scholarships to students residing in a home where the family is caring for a loved one who is struggling with dementia or degenerative brain disease.
