Wilson Woicehovich

Wilson C. (Tata) Woicehovich, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 12, 2018. Wilson was born in Lanark, West Virginia on January 14, 1930, to Maryanne (Kozan) and Charley Woicehovich. Wilson served in the Army during the Korean Conflict stationed in Alaska for his tour of duty. Wilson was known for his mechanic abilities spending 23 years at Motor Freight Express as a diesel mechanic and the family mechanic his entire life. He belonged to St. Hedwig, St. John the Baptist and Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church. Wilson was preceded in death by his baby son, James; his sisters, Virginia Lucas, Alice Kreptowski, Mary Malish, Nina March and Annie Welch as well as his brothers Michael and Joseph. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Cecelia, and his children Annette (Stan) Carlisle, Cheryl (Dan) Ray, Wilson Jr. (Lynn) and Vincent (Kristine) Woicehovich. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Robert (Miranda) Carlisle, Cheryl Jane (CJ) Carlisle, Daniel, Logan and Lindsay Ray, Wilson III and Alex Woicehovich, and Vincent, Jr., Cody and Hannah Woicehovich. He is also survived by his only great grandson, Xavier Carlisle, his godchildren and many nieces and nephews and cherished by many other relatives and friends. Wilson will also be missed by his furry companion, Pawnee. Wilson was a member of PLAV Post 32, PAC Club, RBO #204-St. Nicholas Church, Model T Club of Akron, Int'l Model T Club of America and Teamsters Local 24. Wilson enjoyed working on vehicles, restoring antique cars, gardening and making sausage. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, October 17, from 4 to 7 pm at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange Street, Akron, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 18, at 10 am at Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Road, Akron, OH. Father Kawalec officiating. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery following the mass. The family sends special thanks to Heather Knoll Caregivers and their Hospice Staff.
