William M. Oldham of Hudson, Ohio, died peacefully on December 30, 2024, just days shy of his 83rd birthday on January 5th, after a lengthy and hard-fought battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Raised in Silver Lake, Ohio, and having graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1960, Bill was lucky to have shared his life for 54 years with wife, Pat (Conn), who preceded him in death in 2017. Bill is survived by his three children, April Sockol of Hudson, Joseph (Jennifer) Oldham of Bath, and Susan Oldham of Aurora, ten grandchildren, sister Nancy (Darrel) Seibert, and many much-loved friends and extended family including cousins, Pete and Barb Oldham.
One of a long line of lawyers, Bill received both his undergraduate and juris doctorate degrees in the 1960s from the University of Akron. He was a lawyer's lawyer, wearing many hats in the field, including managing partner of Buckingham Doolittle and Burroughs for five years (1985-90), President of the Akron Bar Association (1987), and adjunct professor at the University of Akron College of Law. Bill ended a 50-year career at Oldham & Dowling, a firm he founded in Akron in 1994 with, among others, his son, Joe. But perhaps Bill will be best remembered for his consummate dedication to sport of any kind. Whether it be for his children, grandchildren or his beloved Akron Zips, Bill was always in the stands, hot dog in hand, cheering them on!
The Oldham family will endeavor to continue its parents' and grandparents' legacy of hard work and dedication to community, and in that vein, they wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Hudson Grande Senior Living and Traditions Health Hospice for their kind and compassionate care, and with whose support Bill's final trial was made all the sweeter.
No public services will be held, but donations in Bill's memory will be graciously welcomed by the Akron Bar Foundation at akronbar.org.
