William Kirk

William T. Kirk 80 passed away peacefully December 23 2011 with his family at his side. Born in Akron Ohio Bill lived in the area for most of his life. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and retired from The McCourt Construction Co. after 32 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family having dinner with friends and giving back to the community. For many years he served as President and member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Hilary Church where he was a long time member. Bill was an avid golfer and history buff. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond his mother Mary (Deluca) and sister Joan (Kline). He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Helen (Popa) children: Bill Tom (Sue) Patty (Jerry Gorbach) Susan (Scott Kleinman) Tim (Kelly) Mike (Beth); sister Pat (John Haas); grandchildren: Anne (Denny) Katie Brian Scott Hilary Kaitlin Kailey Michael David Megan Samantha Nathan and Mitchell and many other family and friends. Bill was a devout Catholic a great family man and will be remembered as a man of immense character and integrity. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. Bill touched others in special ways that left lasting impressions. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM Wednesday December 28 2011 at St. Hilary Church 2750 W. Market St. Akron 44333. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday at Hummel Funeral Home 3475 Copley Rd. from 4-8PM. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Hilary Church. Private interment of ashes in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
