Walton Prueter born February 19 1918 in Auglaize County Ohio died June 21 2013. A long time employee of Goodyear he was Scout Master for his own boys and for a host of other boys too for 21 years. He taught us to be prepared do good and see the good in others. Dad served his community in numerous ways- Scout Master Zoning Board church Deacon. He also taught us how to love in his own quiet way. His quiet and often silent approval was all that we needed. We often road sleds behind the barn in the winter. It may seem odd but we can still hear the joys of laughter. But oddly the sound most vivid in our ears is the sound of air puffed out of dad as we road on top of him bouncing down hill. It's the small touches of love which spur us on now. Those quiet but stern orders to bring in the hay or mow the lawn. Pleasant memories amidst recollection of what we found difficult. But each time Dad taught us a lesson. Work may not always be fun but the joy is in doing it right. We fondly remember bringing in the hay. Jim got to drive the tractor. It seemed interminable before Bill was given the right. Jim would drive and Bill would balance on top to prevent the overloaded wagon from tipping to much laughter and fun. Sawing a board in a straight and true line was something Dad encouraged us to do. He was also teaching us to be true to ourselves. He taught us how to hammer nails saw wood and work hard. In that we have found much joy. He will be missed but what he taught us will always be with us. For Dad silence was golden and moments of quiet will always allow us to remember him.
