Walter Jenson

September 26, 1951 — January 24, 2025

Walter C Jenson passed quietly at home in hospice care January 24, 2025. Walter was born September 26, 1951 to Violet and Elwyn Jenson.

He leaves behind brothers Bob & Linda Jenson and Wayne & Kitty Jenson; sisters Judy & Dan Howser , and June & Bill Nowacki. Many nieces, nephews and cousins will all share the loss. Life partner of 47 years Richard Tschantz will with other friends miss him dearly.

A long area resident, Walt graduated from Barberton High School and later Kent State University. He studied music and education and was able to do his student teaching in Denmark at an embassy school. There he was able to explore, visit and research his Danish and Swedish family roots while living abroad. Soon after returning to the U.S. , he was hired by the Barberton public school system. A career of vocal music teacher had begun. As years went by, Walt taught at several different school buildings. Holiday pageants, special productions and choral works kept him busy.

Aside from teaching, Walt was an avid planner of social events, parties, weddings, charity events, all with flowers, food and decor. Through the years Walter and Richard remodelled, renovated restored and designed additions to the homes they lived in. Some beautiful interiors were created.

In retirement, Walt kept occupied with maintaining the landscaping and household duties our present home required. Holiday gatherings were a well planned affair. An occasional floral project was pursued. Reading magazines, cooking, and classic movies on TV were favorite pastimes.

Sadly our time together has come to a close. Remembering all the love that was shared with friends and family will be his legacy. So much more could be said of this wonderful person. Thank you to all the nursing staff, sister June, and all the others who kept in touch and offered support and prayers.

A cremation has taken place and a memorial will take place at a later date. May he rest in peace.
