Walter Danilov passed away on Sunday evening June 13 2010 at the age of 85. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater of the war. He was a member of the Akron Police Department for 26 years and retired in 1977. Walter was also a member of the Coventry-Akron Lodge #83 of the Yusef-Khan Grotto the Fraternal Order of Police the Akron Area Police & Widows Association Chapter #25 and the VFW Post 3383. Walter was preceded in death by his parents Nellie and Dan Danilov; sister Angie Danilov; wife Mary Alice Danilov; daughter Sheila Anne Danilov; and step-son Donald Vick. He is survived by his present loving wife of 29 years Dolly Danilov; daughter Linda Danilov Payne; grandchildren Adam and Keri Payne Tamara (Gary) Brainard; and great-grandchildren Tabitha Dalton and Mason Brainard. Walter was a member of the Copley United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. He lived a life of service to the public but more importantly to his loving family. He will be sorely missed. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday June 18 2010 at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY 3475 Copley Rd. Interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park with Reverend Becki Bowan-Verbridge officiating. Copley VFW Post 7971 will be assisting with military honors at the cemetery. Calling hours will take place at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM lead by Coventry-Akron Lodge #83.
