After a short and courageous battle with cancer, Virginia "Ginny" Mary Peter Scanlon, 81 of Akron, Ohio, went to meet our Heavenly Father. Ginny was loved by so many and was known to be a fabulous cook. She thoroughly enjoyed trying new recipes and bringing family and friends, both old and new, together around a table. She worked for many years in the medical field, but her favorite roles were that of mother, grandmother and hostess.
Born April 30, 1943, to the late Dr. Arno and Virginia Peter. She was born in Richmond, VA, she was just minutes older than her identical twin, Mary Lee Peter Lewis, who sadly preceded her in death in 1979. Ginny will be remembered for her kind heart; her gentle spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unwavering love for her family was evident in everything she did, Ginny's dedication to her loved ones was unmatched, and her family meant everything to her. In addition to her caring nature, Ginny was heavily involved in volunteering her time and energy to numerous charities. Her selflessness and generosity knew no bounds.
As a devoted Catholic, Ginny found solace in her faith and fulfillment in her church. She dedicated her time and energy to supporting her religious community and found joy in giving back to others.
In her leisure time, Ginny enjoyed playing bridge with friends, relaxing by the pool and exploring her passion for cooking. These activities brought her significant joy and allowed her to unwind and recharge from her busy social calendar. Overall, Ginny's legacy of kindness, generosity, devotion to family and friends will forever be cherished to all who have known her.
Ginny leaves behind brothers Charles, James and Robert, sister Margaret "Annie". Ginny is mother to sons Christopher and Kevin (Amy) and daughter Lisa (Jason). She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Kaley (Colleen), Alec (Melissa), Danny (Kate), Gabriel, Madison, Ben, Ethan and great grandchild Evie.
While our hearts mourn our passing, we all take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering and has been reunited with her previously deceased loved ones and friends. Always the consummate hostess, those who knew her best knows that she will continue to bring family friends, both in heaven and on earth together around a table for a delicious meal made with love.
Ginny will forever hold a special place in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace, knowing that she was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
