Vincent H. Flaherty died peacefully at his home in Bonita Springs Florida on the 11th of January 2006. Born in Akron Ohio in 1913 he served in World War II in the South Pacific in the 24th Infantry Division. Together with his wife Claire he established The Flaherty Potato Chip Company. He was a man who enjoyed a good game of poker or gin (so long as he could sort through the discards). Vince especially liked Tuesday Thursday Saturday and Sundays reinforcing to himself that he was indeed a fine golf teacher who self-applied his instructions....well good enough. Vincent was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Eva (Bentz) his wife Claire his devoted Dudley siblings Kenneth Francis Joseph and Richard. He was the father of Kathleen Claire brother of Garnet Powell and Lollie Arwine and master of the K-9 duo DJ and CECE. Vincent was a former member of Fairlawn and Spanish Wells Country Clubs. An unprentious man he gave most generously without others ever knowing. He was a very modest man who spoke little of the struggles of his youth. He added great fabric and color to the texture of many peoples lives. He was a gentleman. Private services will be conducted in Akron and Bonita Springs. With a grateful heart his daughter acknowledges the kindness care and love of Vera Ellie Jo Jerry Michiels and an especial young man James O'Neil. Please remember him as you will. Your charity of choosing would be his charity of choice.
