Vicki Blice

June 4, 1946 — November 21, 2015

Vicki Blice, 69, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Saturday, November 21, 2015. She was born June 4, 1946 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Fred and Virginia Hartenstein. Vicki is survived by her husband of 48 years and sweetheart since junior high school, Dan Blice; her best friend and sister Diane Rektor (James) of Youngstown; her loving children Nathan Blice (Kathy), Emily Engle (Phil), Betsy Barr (Jason) and Margaret Haase (Michael). Gramma Vicki loved her grandchildren and was an example of strength, happiness, compassion, humor, and love to Hannah, Brian, Sarah, Daniel Blice; Evelyn, Carolyn, Madelyn, Chelsea Engle; Elaine and Jane Barr; Penelope and future grandson Haase; and many nieces and nephews. Vicki was very involved in the Copley-Fairlawn school system as a parent and leader. She served as president of the Arrowhead PTA, president of the Copley High School Music Boosters, and statistician for countless youth sporting events. Vicki was an active member of Bath United Church of Christ, a member of the Chancel Choir, and an all-time fan of the Summit Choral Society. Vicki was a Registered Nurse (Youngstown Hospital Association) and retired from the Village at St. Edward. She was known as 'Third Floor Vicki' and was well loved by her patients and families. She treated her patients with love, respect, and dignity. Above all, Vicki was an absolutely devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was joyfully involved in every aspect of her family's life. She was a woman of deep faith and knew that heaven awaited her. She will forever be remembered for her quick wit, wide ranging sense of humor, fantastic recipes, and beautiful smile. A memorial service will be held Saturday December 5th, 2:00 pm, at the Bath United Church of Christ in the Historic Chapel, 3980 W. Bath Rd., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
