Marita Zupke

Marita Zupke died peacefully on April 13, 2025 with her devoted husband by her side. She was born to Edward Donald and Amelia Jeannette (Youngblood) Seifert, one of thirteen children, on January 24, 1929. She graduated from Barberton High School in 1947 and went to work at the Seiberling Rubber Co. Marita married Robert (Bob) Zupke, her high school sweetheart, on June 21,1952. They were married for 72 wonderful years. Marita and Bob, devout Catholics, were members of Saint Sebastian parish. Together they raised five children. Marita was an accomplished seamstress. She loved to bowl, play golf, and play cards with her friends. She also loved to spend the winter months at their condo in Stuart, FL.

Marita is predeceased by her daughter Janis (Bruce) Dean; sisters Evelyn (George) Petit, Ruth (Ollie) Oser, Helen (Elmer) Petit, Janet (Regis) Paridon, Joan (Dick) Wehling, Miriam; brothers Donald (Helen), Robert (Marilyn), Ivan (Rita), Fr. Raymond C.P.P.S., Dick (Margie).

She is survived by her husband Bob; daughters Diane, Cheryl (William) Burley; sons Robert (Lori), Tim (Julie); grandchildren Amelia (Nick), Robert (Sarah), Amanda (Michael), Audrey (Tom), Timothy, Mallory; and seven great grandchildren Oliver, Elliot, Robert, Madeleine, Palmer, Graeme, and Aspen; and sister Carol (Richard) Hoover. Marita is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at Sunrise Senior Living for all their care and support as well as Town Square Hospice for their comfort care.

Visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Monday, April 21 at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, Ohio 44321. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, April 22 at 11:00 am at Saint Sebastian Church, 476 Mull Avenue Akron, Ohio. Burial at Western Reserve Cemetery at a later date.
