Valerie Thayer

Valerie Sue Thayer, nee Kiehl, age 59, passed away at home on November 4, 2021. She was born on August 24, 1962, to Benjamin and Kathleen Kiehl in Akron, Ohio.

Valerie was a graduate of Copley High School and the University of Akron prior to beginning her career in photography. She was a member of Lakeview Christian Church. Valarie was a gentle and loving soul whose devotion to her family was her greatest passion. She was generous with her love and with gifts, showering her family and friends with both on a regular basis. Her nieces and nephew were her greatest joy. Valerie cherished every moment spent with them abundantly offering her support, encouragement, and love. She will be lovingly remembered for her warm smile, beautiful voice, and big hugs.

Valerie was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Kiehl; grandparents, Timothy and Opal Rafferty and Edna Kiehl. She is survived by her loving husband, Reginald "Reg" Thayer of Akron; devoted mother, Kathleen Kiehl-Huber; siblings, Kimberly (Ron) Sabo of Copley and Pamela (Brian) Conover of Lexington Ohio; beloved nieces, Madelaine and Abigail Conover and Alexis Sabo; and nephew, Joshua Sabo Esq.; aunts, Regina Vinson, Marge Camnitz; and uncles, Ronald "Mick" Kiehl and Ted McDavitt.

Valerie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is now free to spend eternity with the angels.

Calling hours to celebrate Valerie's life will be held Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road, Copley. A Memorial Service officiated by Rev. Darryl Moulder will be on November 12, 2021 beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Inurement will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2590 Romig Rd., Akron.
