Timothy O'Rourke

March 29, 1939 — July 29, 2016

Timothy J. O'Rourke, 77, passed away July, 29, 2016 after a battle with neck cancer. Tim attended St. Sebastian Grade school, Borromeo High School, and graduated from John Carroll University. After 6 months in the Army Reserves, he began his career in the banking industry having worked for Akron Savings, Ohio Saving and Cardinal Federal. When he left banking, he became Business Manager for 15 years at St. Vincent Parish. Tim was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus-St. Vincent Council and charter member of the First Friday Club of Akron. Tim enjoyed all sports especially golf and Notre Dame and Ohio State football. However, his first priority was his wife and family. He enjoyed all the activities with the children while they were growing up. His grandchildren were a true blessing and total joy especially during family functions, family vacations at Hilton Head and the unforgettable singing of the 'Donut Song'. Tim was proceeded in death by his parents Mary Jane and Robert O'Rourke. He is survived by his wife Dottie of 50 years of happy marriage. He leaves his 4 children Beth (Karl) Johnson, Colleen (Mike) Whitty, Megan (Scott) Sumser and son Michael; 7 grandchildren Brian, Kelly, Erin Johnson; Kaitlin, Kara, Tommy Whitty; Emily Sumser; brother Terry and sister-in-law Tammy; sister-in-laws Marilyn Stallard,Peggy Brunamonti, and Kendra McCloud. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11:00 am at Guardian Angels Church 1686 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd. Copley. The family will receive friends from 4 - 7 pm on Tuesday, at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road, COPLEY. A private family interment will take place at a later time.
