Thomas Strauss

Thomas A. Strauss, age 85, passed away on October 25, 2016. He was born on August 28, 1931 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Anthony and Nina Strauss. Tom was a 1951 graduate of St. Vincent High School and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving our country in the United States Air Force. Tom retired from Montgomery Wards. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the arts and the outdoors. He was an active member of Our Lady of Victory Church in Tallmadge. He is survived by his wife, Madeline; daughter, Natalie (Greg) Montgomery; brother, Bernard Strauss; step-children, James (Jaye) Showalter, Patti Showalter Higgins, Eddie (Pam) Showalter and Andy (Lori) Thomas; grandchildren, Jeremy and Tyler Montgomery; 7 step grandchildren; and 5 step great grandchildren. Calling hours will be 4-7 pm Friday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St. Akron, Ohio 44304. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Saturday at Our Lady of Victory Church, 73 North Ave. Tallmadge, Ohio. Interment will take place Monday 10:00 am at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the Alzheimer's Assoc. or the charity of your choice.
