Thomas Remeika

September 25, 1981 — April 3, 2020

Thomas Joseph Remeika age 38 Survived by son Simon Remeika, mother Gail Gruber McPeake (Steve), sisters Julie and Bonnie Remeika, and dozens of loved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tom had a big, compassionate spirit. He had many friends throughout his life and was loved for his kind, honest, and loyal nature. He accepted everyone he met and generously shared what he had with others. Tom had a really strong connection to nature and God. He was a self-taught scientist, chemist, and plant expert. His thumb was so green he once grew 5 foot tea plants from seeds! He particularly enjoyed camping, bonfires, fishing, and hiking in the Allegheny National Forest. He designed beautiful hiking sticks from walnut wood. Tom played chess with the best of them and enjoyed music and dancing. He trained in martial arts and had fun demonstrating his craft. His main artistic ability came out through his beautiful multicolored fluid acrylic paintings, winning a prize at an Akron art show in 2018. Tom truly honored our family with the way he courageously fought his mental illness. He battled for 18 years, never giving up hope for a better quality life. We are so heartbroken with Tom gone from our lives. He will be missed and loved every day and remembered always with a smile. Memorial TBA. Please share your good memories to honor Tom. Donations can be made to your local NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) or homeless shelter.
