Thomas "Tom" John McDonough passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on February 13, 2022. He was 79 years old.
Tom was born to Della and Vince McDonough in Chicago, IL on December 21, 1942. He was the oldest of four children. He worked as a meat cutter for almost 50 years; at Jewel Stores in Chicago, ACME Stores in Akron, and even after retirement at Dave's Stores in Cleveland. During his career, many of his customers turned into friends.
Tom was a devoted husband, father, and papa and a very faithful man. He prayed the rosary every day of his life and was known for the list of people he kept in his prayers. Tom loved the arts. He enjoyed reading, writing, and painting. His home is full of books he wrote and pictures he painted. He was also known for his love of storytelling. Tom shared many stories from his life with those he loved.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Joanne. He is survived by his wife Michelle; his son Vincent (Carla) McDonough; his daughter Beth (Bryan) Buzzi; his brother Vincent (Victoria) McDonough; his sisters Kate (David) Pasquith and Mary (Joseph) Trybulec; his step-daughters Angela (Bryan) Krieger and Olivia (Matt) Sloan; his grandchildren Vincent, Olivia and Kayla Buzzi, Gary and Meghan McDonough, Maxwell and Louie Krieger; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 21st at 10am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Cuyahoga Falls. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 20th from 2 - 5pm at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E Exchange St., Akron. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
The family requests that masks are worn.
