Tom was born October 3, 1943 in Akron, OH. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Richard B. Lewis and Dessie (Lewis) Talvan, stepfather George Talvan, brother Richard B. Lewis II, and sister, Rosemary Copen. Tom leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Janet. Children, Bridget (Joe Spicer), Janine Haydu, Richard (Jacquline), and Chrystal (Rob) Froman. He also leaves behind five grandkids, Mikayla, Brenna, Peyton, Pyper, and Leland. Tom's beloved pup, Chum is also heart broken. When he wasn't in a garage or under the hood of a car, he could be found cruising around town with Chum, often below the posted speed limit. Tom lived his life his way, on his own clock. He loved nature and the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting & fishing, putzing around Nimisila & Portage Lakes, watching movies, listening to oldies, eating candy, and spoiling his grandkids & his pup. Tom spent the majority of his life in the Akron/Canton area befriending everyone he encountered. Tom had a heart of gold, and he was never afraid to lend a hand to someone in need. Tom loved making people smile and laugh. Tom always had a joke or story to tell, had he written his own obituary it might've went something like this: Thomas J. Lewis was beamed up by a bright white light on the evening of November 28, 2019 while listening to American Pie. He was last seen surrounded by four Earthlings and multiple people in white. He left behind a cloud of dust. If seen or found, please call Richard. Join his family to celebrate his life, Friday, December 6th at 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church. 704 Firestone Blvd. in Akron.
