Thomas J. Lenke "Elmo", 66, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 8, 2024 after a brief battle with leukemia. Tom retired after 36 years at Yellow Freight as a diesel mechanic. He was a lifelong Copley resident and valued his many friends who were like family. Elmo was a true motor-head and an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast. He loved riding the streets of Copley and Portage Lakes on his '49 Panhead. You could always find Elmo tinkering in his garage for hours, listening to "Rock n' Roll". He could fix anything. Everyone knew if the garage door was open, you were welcome to stop by for some laughs and a cold beer.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents Julius and Twyla Lenke. He is survived by his sister Judy Fisher, his loving wife of 46 years, Laura, his son Jason and wife Michele, daughter Michelle and husband John, daughter Sarah and fiancé Bret, eight precious grandchildren, Coltan, Tyler, Daniel, Kathryn, Matthew, Carson, Chelsea and Cecelia, plus many lifelong buddies, friends and family.
Friends and Family may call Monday December 16 from 5-7pm at the Copley Funeral Home located at 3475 Copley Rd. Copley OH 44321. A Memorial Service will take place the following day, Tuesday December 17, 2024 at the same Hummel Funeral Home at 11:00am. Interment at Copley Cemetery to follow.
