Thomas Johnson

March 25, 1960 — March 29, 2025

Thomas P. Johnson, age 65, passed away unexpectedly on March 29, 2025. He is predeceased by his mother, Joan Hummel Johnson and survived by his wife of 39 years, Missy, daughters: His silly little Goose, Meghan (TJ-husband, Pop-Pop's grandchildren, Cora and Nolan) and strong willed Tootse, Katie. Also, his father James T., his brothers & sisters: Mike (Julie), Susan, Barb (Gary), Timothy and his favorite little sister Julie and many nieces, nephews.

A recipient of the 5.5 year program at the University of Akron, he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BSBA / Marketing and Sales and had always felt his polished skill sets were developed early as being a AAA looper, a Sky-Way drive-in curb man and a Blossom Music Center director of Front Gate Security (you may have wondered in the 70's where your unopened bottle and cans went). His refrigerator was like a Heinz 57 of beers. No two matched, but they were always cold to a friend in need.

Tom had simple but favorite activities in life. Being a provider to his wife and girls, friendships, outdoor activities and a preference for warm weather. He especially enjoyed the 2 months he and his wife Missy would go to Sunset Beach for the winter and enjoy a much slower pace.

He was a devoted Tribe, Browns, Cavs, Zips and St. Vincent-St. Mary sports fan and tried his hardest to get his girls to support/wear the proper sports attire and let folks know where they come from! Ahhm, not Columbus, Ohio.

He was blessed with excellent friends with whom he shared good times and bad jokes. He was honored to hold the title of twice runner up of the "Baggy Pants Open" held annually at Maumee Bay.

He was extremely proud of his two wonderful daughters, Meghan and Katie and his wife, Missy, and loved them dearly. He had one granddaughter and one grandson, Cora and Nolan. He knew he was very blessed by his wife Melissa with whom he shared a life of love, ups and downs, loads of laughs, and over 39 years of togetherness. They met in a rainstorm at Blossom Music Center, she a ticket taker and Tom, a bottle can scavenger and both were from the greater Akron area. She was the center of his universe.

Tom was greatly loved by his friends and family and will be missed by many.

Visitation, Friday April 4th, from 10:30a-11:30a at St. Vincent's Church, Akron, OH with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30a. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Special Olympics in Tom's name.

In Tom's words: "TJ, I thank you for your promise to look after our girls and continue to show your true talents to Nolan. Life is short and please reflect on the great memories you have made. If you want to remember me, the next time you are at a place where we shared a chuckle together have a Blatz on me. It's time to go take the boys for a walk now."
