Thomas Dettling

Thomas R. Dettling, 88, died on March 21, 2022.
Tom graduated from John R. Buchtel High School and The University of Notre Dame. He served as a Medic in the U. S. Army for two years in Augsburg, Germany. Tom was an Employee Benefit Consultant for many years. He also was an avid gardener and loved his Notre Dame football.

He is survived by Nori (Eleanor), his wife of 60 years, children Mary (Bruce) Illes and son Tod (Thomas, Jr.); grandchildren B. Zachary (Lacey) Illes, Joshua (Samantha) Illes and Samantha Illes. Tom is also survived by his brother John (Marjorie) Dettling, M.D.; sister-in-laws Dorothy (Bill is dec.) Holleran, Terrie Rice, Maureen (Jerry) Harrigal, Nora (Dale) Hornburg, Kitty (Phillip) Donataccio and Bonni (Charles) Betz; brothers-in-laws Brian (Paula is dec.) Holleran, Ph.D., Neal Holleran, M.D., and Mike (Renée) Holleran. Tom was preceded in death by his sister Joan (Robert) Botdorf and brother Jim (Judy).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 12:00 (Noon) at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1676 S. Cleveland Massillon Rd. COPLEY. A private interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
