Theresia Schaaf

March 13, 1914 — June 27, 2012

Theresia Olga Schaaf 98 went home with the angels to heaven on June 27 2012. Mom was born March 13 1914 to Theresia & Joseph Kamrad in Akron Ohio. She had three sisters - Hermina Laura and Jan and one brother Joseph all deceased. Mom belonged to St. Paul's Parish for over 50 years and The Ladies Guild of St. Paul. She worked in St. Paul's Convent in the 1950's. She was a seamstress and tailor for Robert Hall Clothes and Langs & Diamonds Menswear for many years. Mom was up at 5:00am ready to go whether it was a home project painting building shelves or lugging furniture around - no job was too tough for her. But more than that her biggest job was a caregiver to so many people all throughout her life. She would care for the sick make meals clean and was always there when someone needed her help. She was the nurse hairdresser babysitter baker taxi driver and anything else you needed. In all her 98 years Mom never had a bad word to say about anyone. She never complained about any of her own medical problems that she dealt with always was optimistic and had a smile for everyone. She was famous for her great cooking and baking. The kids all looked forward to coming to 'Little Grandma's' for her skinny pancakes spritz krapfen paprikash and strudels and the best dobos torte ever. Easter was the lamb cakes Christmas was granzel and all her old cookie recipes. She would send crazy mail order gifts at Christmas to her grandkids so they would have a laugh and know she was thinking of them. Every time she said goodbye she would say her line to get the kids laughing 'See ya later alligator and after while crocodile' and ''last tag''. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernie daughter Pat Brooker dear friend Frank Baird and her best friend 'Buddy' the cat. She is survived by daughters and son-in-laws Bunny (Bob) Balogh and Pam (Bill) Morris. She leaves eleven grandchildren David (Rosemary'' Brooker Lora (Chris) Evans Bridget (Carl) Jarvis Patrick (Mary Jo) Brooker Michelle (David) Scalera Kelly (John) Lambert Amy (Billy) Sprinzl Shannon (Ryan) Prescott Daniel Balogh Rachel Spiteri and Dawn (Brian) Dausman 26 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday June 30 2012 at 11AM at St. Paul's Catholic Church 1580 Brown St. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. on Friday from 5 - 8 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Summit County Humane Society 7996 Darrow Road Twinsburg OH 44087 or St. Jude Shrine 512 W. Saratoga St. Baltimore MD 21201.
