Theodore (Tivadar) Jeno Ször, born in Budapest Hungary, passed away in Copley, Ohio on April 7, 2025 surrounded by family.
He was married in 1953 and drafted in the Hungarian army in 1954. He and his wife, Susan, fled to Serbia where they stayed for 10 months, eventually making it to Akron with the help of CARE Organization and $1 in their pocket.
He was very proud of building a house in Copley in 1969, where he built a life that he enjoyed with his family up until his passing.
He was no stranger to hard work and perseverance. He soon found a job at Diamond Match, Flexigrip (20 years) then as a machinist where he worked out his career at Goodyear Aerospace, Aircraft Braking Systems, and Lockheed Martin. He retired and still worked in his home shop, T & Z Machine.
He was very much a man of routine. His days always included great home cooked food, beers on tap, and nap time. He enjoyed travel, Hawaii was his favorite. He was very involved in The Hungarian Benefit Society in Barberton and Christ Reformed Church in Copley. You would always catch him roasting the whole pig at the Hungarian Festivals.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Szor and his daughter in law, Meredith Szor. He was survived by his son, James Szor; daughter Susan Reisinger (Daniel); granddaughter Andrea Lisy (Todd); grandson Michael Gangle; and his dear special friend Elizabeth.
Private family services will be held in May.
Family would like to invite family and friends for a celebration of life Sunday May 4th from 2-6pm at The Hungarian Club in Barberton.
His advice was "live your life, take the trips, don't wait, because the golden years aren't so golden."
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ted's memory to:
