Theodore Dettling

Theodore Joseph Dettling 84 passed away December 28 2012. He is survived by daughters Barbara (Peter) Stamatis Diane (Sam) Ross Susan (David) Brown Mary Dettling; sons Brian and Ted; grandchildren Michelle Allison Brian Michelle (Gesualdo) Billy Maddie Bridget Camille Colton Austin; great grandchildren Joey and Johnathan; sister Margie (Emory) Lesho brothers Robert and Rev. William Dettling. Theodore is preceded in death by loving wife Marilyn Balaun Dettling; parents Theodore and Leanore; and sister Leanore (Andy) Haas. Theodore graduated from St. Vincent High School graduated from the University of Akron with a BS in Chemistry and a law degree. He served as a first lieutenant in the US Army. He worked as chemist for B.F. Goodrich and General Tire. Ted practiced patent law at Diamond Shamrock Corportion. Theodore and Marilyn cofounded Elaston Company. He spent many years at Lake Mohawk and enjoyed boating and water skiing. Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday January 3 2013 at 11 AM at St. Sebastian Catholic Church 476 Mull Ave Akron. Entombment in Holy Cross Cemetery to follow. Visitation will be held Wednesday January 2 2013 from 4-7 PM at the Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Akron. Donations may be made to the Sebastian new organ fund 476 Mull Ave. Akron 44320 in Ted's memory.
