Dr. Terrance E. Horrigan age 76 passed away Saturday July 28 2012. Terry was born June 25 1936 to the late James and Helen Horrigan. He was a 1954 graduate of St. Vincent high School a 1958 graduate from Akron University with a B.A. in Education and in 1959 received his Masters in Education. Terry played football at both St. Vincent and Akron University. He later attended Florida Atlantic University and received his Ph.D. During his college years Terry was a member of the Lone Star Fraternity. Terry led a life wearing many hats; he was a teacher coach athletic director of St. Vincent From 1965 to 1968 principal assistant superintendant of Martin County School from 1968 to 1991.Terry also served in the United States Army Reserve as a Captain from 1959 to 1967. Terry was preceded in death by his son Terrance daughter Megan Mortell his parents James and Helen and brothers Jim and Daniel. He leaves behind his wife Nancy Horrigan of Stuart FL; daughters Laurie (Rob) McIntyre of Park City Utah and Colleen (Dan) James of Parkland FL; sisters Ursula Mannion and Kathy (Arnie) Berkowitz and sister-in-law Lucretia Horrigan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kelly O'Brien (T.J) Christopher Madison McIntyre Connor Coleby Mortell Logan James; great granddaughter Phinley Megan; nieces and nephews Jim Dan Marihelyn Horrigan Elizabeth Testa Mike Megan Tim Mannion Mick Movsesian and Andy Berkowitz. Terry's greatest asset as an educator was his sincere concern for each student that they felt individual worth to find their path to success and were encouraged to learn at their own rate and were given the opportunity to do so. A memorial mass will be held at 9 AM on Saturday August 25 2012 at St. Vincent Catholic Church 164 W. Market St. Akron 44303. The family will receive friends from 8:30 - 9 AM PRIOR to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of choice.
