Teresa Casey

The long goodbye ended for our dear Teresa, 89, on September 21, 2015. Born July 2,1926 in Springfield, Ohio to Aloysius and Claire McGuire; she was the fourth of their six children. Her sisters, Jeanne and Claire and brother Joseph (Patricia) survive. They were raised during the Great Depression yet Teresa often described her happy childhood. Despite the economic hardships of that time, her family was rich in faith and love and she, in turn, shared those two great gifts with us. In 1949, Teresa married Roger Casey who preceded her in death in 2002. They welcomed and raised five children; Melinda (Joel) Hampton, whom cancer sadly took from us in 2010, Christopher (Marion), Ann (Jonathan) Sandvick, Mary-Sarah, and James (Jane). Fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren will miss their 'fun-sized' grandma whom they called Teta. Our family wishes to thank Allie Bianchi, Teresa's very special nurse, caregiver and friend along with Donna, Erika, Cynthia and VNS nurses Jasmine and Patty for their care. Above all, we thank God for the gift of Teresa's life and the Catholic faith and boundless love she taught and shared. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Sebastian Parish church on Saturday September 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd., Copley on Friday September 25, 2015 from 4-7 PM and at the church one hour before the Mass.
