Stella Rajchel Gaydash Stella Gaydash, 104 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 25, 2018. Born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania on November 28, 1913, Stella was preceded in death by husband Jack; brothers Stanley, Leo, and Joe; sisters Helen, Jane and Mary; and grandson Jerry Gaydash, Jr. She is survived by sons Jack (Barb), Jerry (Joan) and daughter Karen (Bob) Capron, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and special friends Nancy Mayer and Ann Barber. At the age of 17 Stella moved to Akron and married Jack. He passed away in 1954. While raising three children on her own, she worked at Rempels Manufacturing before enrolling in cosmetology school. After completing school, she opened Gay's Beauty Shop on Brown Street, where she did hair until she was well into her 70s. Stella enjoyed fishing in East Tawas, Michigan, playing bingo, visiting casinos, knitting, going to family parties, and was the Cleveland Indians #1 fan. She was especially honored when Mayor Dan Horrigan presented her with a proclamation declaring it 'Stella Gaydash Day' in the City of Akron on her 104th birthday. Stella was a truly remarkable woman who lived life to the fullest, no matter what obstacles she faced, and was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday March 3, 2018, at 11am, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1580 Brown Street, Akron, Ohio, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Internment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
