Sonil R. Haslam

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Kelly (Lilley) Haslam and his two beautiful daughters, Margaret and Sara Haslam. Sonil leaves his mother, Gabriella Haslam, sisters Lylyon Haslam, Lyya Haslam, Leona aka Bonnie Haslam, and his brother Anwar Haslam.
He also leaves several beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, John Walter Haslam, maternal grandparents, Hattie and Cecil Cunningham, great grandmother, Rose Cunningham, paternal grandparents, Mattie and Bennie Haslam, and most beloved uncle Eric A Cunningham.
Sonil was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. He attended Akron Public Schools, graduating from East High School in 1994. He received a bachelor's degree in 2001 from The University of Akron. He worked for CYO, the YMCA Phoenix program, and most recently in the engagement center of Akron Public Schools.
He was an active member of St. Vincent's Parish, Knights of Columbus, and 100 Black Men. His was passions were sports especially football and golf, working with youth and people with disabilities. He coached High School Football for over 25 years. He was a
well-respected and award-winning coach. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Calling hours will be Friday, November 12, 2021, 4-8pm at the Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St. Akron, Ohio 44304. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am Saturday, November 13, 2021 at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 164 W. Market St. Akron, Ohio 44303.
