Sister M. Alice Kessler, OP, the former Eva Kessler, died at the age of 94 on May 19, 2015 at Regina Health Center, Richfield, OH. She was the daughter of Philip and Alice Kessler and entered the Sisters of St. Dominic of Akron, now Dominican Sisters of Peace, from St. Paul Parish, North Canton, Ohio on September 8, 1939. She made profession of vows on July 13, 1941. Sister Alice worked in food service for many years beginning at St. Joseph, Alliance; then at Immaculate Conception, Ravenna; St. Dominic, Youngstown; SS. Peter and Paul, Doylestown; St. Paul, St. Bernard and Our Lady of the Elms Motherhouse, all in Akron. She spent twelve years cooking at Camp Christopher in the summer. In 1969, she returned to Our Lady of the Elms Motherhouse where she became Food Service Director. In 1991, she volunteered at Crown Point Ecology Center in Bath, OH. She moved to the Elms Motherhouse in 2006 where she performed community service. Because of health issues, she was moved to Regina Health Center in July 2013. Sister Alice is survived by sisters, Helen Boeshart and Jane Gulling (Charles) both of N. Canton; Cecilia Gulling of Naples, FL; Alice Blaumiser of Canton and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Carl, Clarence, Donald, Robert, and Harry. Visitation will take place at Our Lady of the Elms Convent, 1230 W. Market St., Akron on Friday, May 22 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. with Wake Service at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, May 23 at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
