Shirley Cate

Shirley Cate, 78, passed away Monday December 29, 2014. She was born in Akron. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by parents Thomas and Evelyn Binns; brother Thomas Binns; son Willard (Chip) Cate. Shirley is survived by daughter Debi A. Hoffaker; sister Beverly (Rodney) Murphy; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great niece and nephew. The family will receive friends Friday 5-8 pm at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St., Akron. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday 10:00 am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Green. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Program.
