Ruth Slinger

Ruth A. Slinger 91 of Wadsworth passed away September 22 2013. Ruth was born on December 16 1921 in Akron to the late James and Gertrude Mathie (raised by Alice Mathie). She was a 1939 graduate of Buchtel High School. She married the love of her life Jack Slinger on April 26 1941 at Annunciation Parish in Akron. She and Jack have been members of St. Francis de Sales for the past 53 years. Ruth and Jack enjoyed traveling during their married life. Ruth loved shopping cooking and keeping her beauty shop appointments. She was a dedicated wife and mother to her family. Ruth enjoyed her close and genuine relationships not only with her children but with many of her family members and close friends. She will be greatly missed and always remembered. She is survived by her husband of 72 years Jack and children Judy (Dan) Hoynes Jack (Cathi) Slinger Jr. Kim (Lenny) Lammlein and Beth (Don) Duke. Ruth also leaves behind 10 grandchildren 14 great grandchildren brother Guy 'Mike' (Fran) Mathie and many nieces and nephews. Ruth is preceded in death by her brother James Jr. sister Olive and grandson Christopher. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday September 26 2013 10 AM at St. Francis de Sales 4019 Manchester Rd. Akron 44319. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery to follow. Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 25 2013 from 4 - 7 PM at the Hummel Funeral Home 3475 Copley Rd. Copley.
