VIEW VIDEO PHOTO TRIBUTERudolph F. Piekarski 93 passed away June 21 2008. Born in Akron Ohio April 19 1915 Rudy lived his entire life in Akron. He graduated from South High School. Rudy started the C & P Sales Company in 1947. His business began by placing gumball machines in front of stores thoughout northeast Ohio. One day a salesman asked if he would buy the toys that he just started to make. Rudy agreed and placed an order with Mattel Toy Company and began selling inside those stores that he had gumball machines located. The rest is history. C & P Sales became one of the largest distributors toys bingo and school supplies in the state of Ohio. Rudy worked daily in the office until the age of 88. Rudy was very active in his beloved Polish community. Starting in 1935 he became Sec. of PNA Lodge #1859. Rudy was President of many of the Polish Organizations; 1950-55 Lodge #1859 1945- 96 Council #134 1986-87 United Polish Council (charter member). Rudy was honorary member of the Polish American Club and was an officer for many years. He was chairman and assistant for 22 years of the Polish Day festival one of the founders of the Polish Debutante Ball honorary member of the Knights of Columbus member of Alliance of Poles Lodge 148 Member of Polish Roman Catholic Union 977 Co-member of St. Mary's Church 1948-1968 member of the International Institute for 6 years from 1956-61 chaired a Polish Dancing Group President of the Polish War Relief Fund announcer of the Polish Radio Program on WAUP. Rudy was inducted in the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame receiving the George Popp Award ( a lifelong friend ) for his service and financial support of local baseball since 1953. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary: parents Jacob and Antoniette: brother Felix ( Helen ). He is survived by his sons Rudy Bob Ron (Judi); and grandchildren Kristin (Steve) Aaron Rudy (Kim) Erika Rachael (Dan) and Emily (Tom); great grandchildren Alexa Dane Jace and Olivia. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday June 24 2008 at 11 AM at Hummel Funeral Home 3475 Copley Rd. COPLEY. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Hedwig's Scholarship Fund 4431 Conestoga Trail Copley OH 44321.
