Rose Costanzo

August 18, 1921 — August 2, 2015

Rose (Rosa Polsinelli) Costanzo, age 93 passed peacefully to her next life on August 2nd.. Born August 18, 1921, in Brocco, Frisinone, Italy, she first set eyes on the Statue of Liberty at age 3. Spoiled by her two older brothers, (Tom & Joe) she adopted well to her new land and graduated in 1940 from Buchtel High. She met her husband Sam while taking guitar lessons. Rose's greatest accomplishment besides being a nurturing, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother was caring for everyone. She lived, 'when you're a mother for one, you're a mother for all.' She raised her family in Copley, where she demonstrated the family is 'numero uno,' is not about you, but about everyone else. Sacrifice, dedication, loyalty and pure love to one's family and friends is why we make the journey here to begin with. Rose was a social person, in her earlier years she was active at Guardian Angles Church, St. Clare Alter Society, and Fairlawn AARP. Rose liked to bowl, garden and travel, but mostly she loved to play cards with all her children, and her many friends at the Retirement Residence of Green, where she lived for six years. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 yrs, Santo (Sam) Costanzo, her parents, Francesco & Cleonice Polisinelli, her big brothers, Thomas and Gesiedo (Joe), and many other family and dear friends. Her surviving children; Frank Costanzo, Ross (Barb) Costanzo, Theresa (Bob) Speight and Santo (Jill) Costanzo, her 6 Grandchildren, and 13 Great Grandchildren, wish to thank her Dr. Vernon Hershberger, Concordia at Sumner in Copley, Visiting Nurse Services of AGMC, and many other loving and caring healthcare professionals. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, August 5th, at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd, Copley, OH 44321. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30AM, on Thursday, August 6th at Guardian Angels Church, 1676 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd. Copley, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron, OH.
