Ronald E. Perry 81 of Akron passed away peacefully on Monday September 17 2012. Ron was born to the late Nicholas and Mildred Perry on September 14 1931 in Portage PA. During his working career Ron was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad and D&K Distributing Company. He proudly served his country in the Korean War. Ron was also a life member of VFW Post 3383 and a 60 year member of the American Legion Post 174 in Gallitzin PA. Ron liked to reminisce of the days he played football and basketball at Gallitzin High School. He was an avid golfer looking forward to Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays on the course at Spring Hill Golf Club with his buddies. He also enjoyed hunting with his son. His family was his pride and joy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Chester; sisters Judith Estelle Blanche Lucetta Talarigo; granddaughter Andrea Perry. Ron is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 59 years Janet; brothers Dennis (Nidia) of Fajardo Puerto Rico and Arnold Perry of Gallitzin PA; daughters Judy (Ken) Adam of Akron and Barbara Ott of Cuyahoga Falls; son Ronald Perry Jr. of Tallmadge; grandchildren Steve 'Pudge' (Erin) Kelly Dr. Tiffany (Tom) Zellman Shannon Perry Shawn and Lindsay Adam; great-grandchildren Alyssa and Andrew Zellman and Bryson Kelly. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday September 25 2012 9:30 AM at Visitation of Mary (formerly Annunciation) 87 Broad St. Akron OH 44305. Burial in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery will immediately follow. Family will receive friends at the Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Akron 44304 on Monday September 24 2012 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Annunciation Soup Kitchen.
