Robert Samuel Thomas, II, 51, passed away on September 16, 2021. He was born in Akron on August 21, 1970.

Robert graduated from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron (1989) and he graduated with distinction from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA (1992) with a BA in Government and Politics. At George Mason he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity and interned for two years with US Senator J. Robert Kerrey. Robert also graduated with honors from The American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. (1996) with a Doctor of Jurisprudence and served as an editor of the American University Journal of International Law and Policy.

Over the span of his 25 year legal career, focusing on bankruptcy and commercial law, Robert's focus centered on representing and assisting individuals through difficult situations. He was an active speaker and published numerous articles on consumer bankruptcy and other related topics. Robert served as U.S. Chapter 7 Bankruptcy trustee in Akron, OH and for the past 5 years was the Chapter 13 Trustee of Baltimore, MD. Robert was also a cofounder and Managing Partner of Thomas Trattner & Malone LLC of Akron, OH.

Robert was an adjunct law professor at the University of Akron, School of Law and the American University, Washington College of Law.

Throughout his life, Robert touched many people, especially children and young adults as coach, mentor and friend. In Akron, he coached CYO basketball and AMFC soccer. He recently started an internship program for high school and college students at the Chapter 13 Trustee office in Baltimore, MD. He was an avid football fan, especially of the Pittsburgh Steelers and a long-standing supporter of STVM athletics and the Dulaney High School Lions football team.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Christine (Stewart) and is the proud father of his 2 children Stewart and Amelia and soon to be daughter-in-law Renee. He is also survived by his three sisters, Lori-Anne (Darin Boville), Lisa, and Michelle, brother-in law and sister-in law Mark and Michelle Stewart, and nieces and nephews Lizz and Ally Boville; Joanne, Julia, Joseph and Lucy Lutman and Jedidiah, Airabella, Kenny Stewart. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gloria Thomas and in-laws Jim and Sharon Stewart. He will be greatly missed by his large extended family throughout the country as well as many friends and colleagues from all parts of his life.

Friends may call on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Hummel Funeral Home Copley, 3475 Copley Rd. from 4-8 pm. A funeral liturgy will be held on Friday, September 24 at 10 am at Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church, 507 S. Cleveland Massillon Rd, Fairlawn. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Robert's name to the American Heart Association or St. Vincent - St. Mary High School.
