Robert Schumann

Robert E. Schumann, age 89, of Copley, passed away on July 10. Beloved husband of Ruth (deceased), loving father to Cynthia (Gerald) Vanderhide, Robert (Beverly) Schumann and Candace (Mark) O'Mahony; cherished grandfather to David, Matthew, Brian, Timothy, Ryan, Brad, Brittany and Brendan; great grandfather of seven; brother to Clyde, Al and Earl. He is preceded in death by his sister, Viola and brothers, Ralph, Howard, Elmer, and Norbert. Bob proudly served America in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Helm during World War II. He worked as a carpenter in the Carpenter's Local Union for 40 years. During his retirement he enjoyed golfing, traveling, singing and hosting an annual corn roast, volunteering and making furniture for his grateful family. Bob loved to make his friends and family laugh with his stories. His quick wit will live on in all of us. Calling hours will be 4-7 Wednesday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, Ohio 44321. Memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, followed by interment at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
