Bob Montgomery passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, surrounded by his beloved wife Marilyn and family. He was the epitome of loyalty and devotion. He was happily married to the love of his life for 62 years. It was an epic love story that started at a YMCA dance in downtown. Akron. He was a loving father to his 4 children and spouses - Diane (Marty), Susan (Kevin) , David (Jeanette) and Carol (Keith). And wonderful grandfather to his 10 grandchildren (Kimmy, Matthew, Gabrielle, Seth, Kyle, Ryan, Lydia, Dylan, Taylor and Stephanie). He was a great brother to Dick, Don and Billy. Bob was a lifelong resident of Copley and graduated from East High in Akron. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 42 years where he got his nickname 'Monty'. He sang in the men and boy's choir at St. Paul Episcopal Church for over 50 years. He was a man of few words - but a great friend and role model to many. He could fix anything, sing or whistle a tune and sneak a nap like no other. He loved anything chocolate until the very end. But what he loved the most was his family - and more than anyone - he loved Marilyn. His last words to her were 'I love you more than ever'. The family will receive friends Sunday 4-7 pm at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd., Copley. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday 11:00 am at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1676 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Copley. Interment Copley Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to St. Bernard's Hunger Program, 44 University Ave., Akron, Ohio 44308.
