Robert Howard

Robert C. Howard 85 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 16 2012. He was born in Akron where he lived his whole life. He graduated from Central High School in 1944 and served in the Army during WWII as a tank driver in Munich Germany for the 20th Armored Division. He was the proud owner of Howard Supply Auto Parts Company in Akron which he operated with his family for more than 30 years. Bob was a member of Visitation of Mary Parish (Annunciation) for 63 years and a 3rd degree member of the South Akron K of C Council 3410. He was also an avid bowler and golfer twice having the thrill of a Hole-in-One. Preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings Bob is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 65 years Martha (Crookston) daughters; Jeannie (Chuck) Dragomir Patricia Long Rita (Ric) Pilgrim and Joan (Wil) Tinker sons; Michael (Lory) Mark (Sue) Marty (Melissa) and Matt (Paula). There are 20 wonderful grandchildren: Alex Bob Carol Dan Ed Frank Holly Ian Jake Jason E Jason M Jessica Jonathan Kristy Lyn Mary Nathan Pete Sara and Tim; 15 great grandchildren: Alex Amaya Ben Charlotte Emily Ethan Grant Isabella Lance Libby Lilah Lily Maddy Serena and Stephanie; and numerous nieces and nephews all left to cherish his memory. He will always be with us. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday January 21 2012 at 10 AM at Visitation of Mary Parish (Annunciation) 87 Broad St. Akron OH 44305. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St on Friday from 3-7 PM. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Visitation of Mary Parish or Hospice of VNS 3358 Ridgewood Rd.
