VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE Robert 'Bob' G. Costill died December 15 2005 after a courageous battle with bone marrow disease. Bob was born on October 13 1925 in Akron and was a life-long resident. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and worked as a carpet installer for 60 years. He pitched semi-pro baseball in the industrial league during the 1950's. Bob originated the West Akron Peewee Football Team and the NWA Hawks. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his son Dan play baseball for over 50 years. Golf became a passion after his retirement and he enjoyed his annual trips to Myrtle Beach with his son and golfing buddies. Bob loved all animals and some of his best friends had 4 legs. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert J. Costill and Thelma E. Costill nee Smith. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years Mildred 'Millie' Costill; son Dan (Sandy) Costill; daughter Nancy Costill; sister Marjorie Costill and numerous family members and friends who supported the family during Bob's long illness. The family would like to thank the oncology nurses on the 7th floor (east) of Akron City Hospital and a special thank you to Dr. Drew Abramovich for their exceptional care and compassion. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday December 20 2005 10 AM at St. Bernards Church 44 University Avenue. Interment in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
