Robert Bowman

Robert E. Bowman (Bob) age 86 formerly of Copley Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday June 10 2012. Robert was born January 13 1926 in Orrville to the late Harold and Nellie Bowman. He lived in Copley for 54 years moving to Sun City Center Florida 2 years ago. He was a long-time member of Copley United Methodist Church. He was the retail manager at Metzger Photo Supply for over 35 years. Robert was a Navy veteran of WWII serving on the USS Grimes where as the unofficial photographer to the captain he photographed hundreds of images of Asia and Japan. His greatest loves were his family camping football gardening and photography. He is also preceded in death by his first wife Janet Louise Bowman and brother Frederick . Robert leaves behind his loving wife Gladys daughter Shirley (Phill) Rodgers of Fuquay Varina NC and son Bruce (Elizabeth) of Killingworth CT; sister Donna Hogue of Cincinnati; step daughters Mary Ann Parker Martha Edelblute Marcia (Dan) Lange; grandsons Kyle (Whitney) Rodgers Scott (Anne) Rodgers and Ryan Rodgers 2 granddaughters Meredith (Jonathan) Clark and Erin Bowman 3 great grandchildren 5 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday June 16 2012 at 1 PM at the Hummel Funeral Home 3475 Copley Rd. Copley OH 44321. Family will receive friends 2 HOURS PRIOR to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Copley Township Cemetery where military honors along with an honor guard provided by Copley VFW Post 7971 will take place. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Copley Fire and Rescue Association 1540 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd. Copley OH 44321.
