Richard Petty

Richard E. Petty, born in Ravenna, Ohio on May 31, 1955, went peacefully home on Thursday, September 30, 2021 surrounded by his family, after a brave battle with cancer.
Preceded in death by his mother and father, Jeannie Petty and Everett Petty. He is survived by his children, Aaron Williams, Tim Petty and Jessica Petty; granddaughter, Laila Petty; 20 year partner, Sandy Gear. Also surviving to grieve his loss are his sisters, Sue (Steve) Bressler and Darlene Petty; step-children, Dan (Kimberly) Gear and Nick Gear; four step-grandchildren; and many cousins and friends.
Rick lived much of his life in the Ravenna and Brimfield areas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, a proud and loyal Browns fan and an avid golfer. You would also find he and Sandy many an early morning on Lake Hodgson or some other area fishing hole. He kept his sense of humor to the end, joking with the nurses and aides every chance he got.
No services will be held and cremation has taken place, per Rick's wishes.
