Richard D. Petti, 92, passed away December 21, 2018. Preceded in death by his parents Dominic and Mary Petti and brother Donald. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio and lived most of his life there, attended Shaw High School and Miami University (Ohio). He served in the Navy during World War II, he married Gerry in 1950 and after a brief stay in Baltimore, they raised their family in Cuyahoga Falls and Stow, Ohio. He worked for Victor Comptometer Corp for 35 years selling cash registers and adding machines. He finished his career with Simplex, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed golf, bowling, watching his grandchildren in any school or sporting activity and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Geraldine Petti (Gerry) of Cuyahoga Falls, daughter Diane Leslie (Jim) of Akron, son David Petti of Gallatin, Tennessee and daughter Laura Schlosser (Tim) of Tallmadge; grandchildren Jennifer McDonald (Thomas) of Akron, Jack Leslie of Cuyahoga Falls and Emily Bowen (Anthony) of Stow, Ashley Wellons (Eric) of Franklin, Tennessee and Jason (Kendra) of Chicago, Illinois sister Marian Gomillion Trout of Highland Heights, Ohio, great grandchildren Ben, James and Ryan McDonald, Tanner and Allie Wellons and Nora Bowen. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11am with calling hours from 10-11 at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 East Exchange Street Akron, 44304. Entombment in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Harbor Light Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
