Richard Charles Hummel II, Passed away on July 8, 2023. Born on May 10, 1943 to Richard C., and Charlotte J. Hummel. He lived in the Akron area his entire life, third oldest of seven children. After attending St. Vincent High School, where he played drums in the St. Vincent's School Marching Band, he served honorably in the United States Marine Corp. from Sept. of 1961 - March 1966 as a Rifleman. One of his greatest thrills was playing drums at the Marine Corp Ball Birthday Celebration held in the Panama Canal Zone. He had an illustrious career in the insurance business for over 20 years, winning numerous awards.
Richard was an avid golfer and sportsman. He was a past member of the Knights of St. John, Knights of Columbus, and Optimist International. While in the insurance business Richard met the love of his life Brenda Bolen, dance instructor, the mother of his four wonderful children: Richard C. Hummel III (Leah), Lisa M. Hummel Romanini (Albert), James Edward Hummel (Dana), Joseph T. Hummel. Richard was very outgoing and had a great sense of humor. He always joked around with his nine grandchildren; Allisa, Anthony, Abigail, Alexander, Ethan, Allison, Samantha, Victoria, and Olivia who were the reasons he lived so long, because every day was a new adventure with them. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 26th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls at 11:00am. The family will receive friends at the Hummel Funeral Home at 500 E. Exchange St. in Akron Wednesday, July 26 from 9:00am to 10:30am. Burial will follow at Holy Cross of Akron.
