Raymond R. Wernig passed away peacefully in Naples, Florida on October 18, 2018. His wife, Martha G. Wernig passed away on October 29, 2018 also in Naples, Florida. Raymond (Ray) was born in Madison, Wisconsin on May17, 1920. Martha (Marty) was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 20, 1919. They both went to college at The University of Wisconsin, where they met and fell in love. They married on June 21, 1941 and recently celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary. Ray and Marty traveled the world with family and friends. They settled in Naples, Florida for their retirement years. The Raymond R. and Martha G. Wernig Foundation was established on June 15, 2000 to support thier philanthropic interests. Many charities today continue to benefit from their generosity in Akron as well as Naples. They are survived by their six children. Stephanie, Cynthia Parry, Charles 'Chip' (Peggy), Mia Elfrink (Joe), Jennifer Groth (Bill), and Mark (Colleen). Sixteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. A Memorial Mass celebrating the lives of Ray and Marty will be held at St. Vincent Church, Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10:00 am.
