Raymond J. Pantea passed from this life on June 16, 2016 at the age of 82. He was born in Akron, Ohio to Peter and Florence (Ramocsan) on November 22, 1933. Ray graduated from Hower High School where he learned the sheet metal trade. After serving in the Army, Ray worked at his craft for the next 50 years with various companies in the area. Ray earned several awards for his work especialy work with copper. Ray was very active in his union and with the Lion's Club. He volunteered for First Night Akron and as a tinsmith in Historic Zoar Vilage. Ray was active with his sons in Indian Guides and coached his daughter's soccer team. Ray also enjoyed playing senior men's soccer. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and their spouses, Walt and Sue, Leonard and Ruth. Brothers George and John. Ray is also preceded by his sister and her spouse, Vicky and Fred Berry. Brother-in-law, Joe Bennett. Niece Janice Pantea, nephews, Ronald and Tom Pantea and Fred Berry. Ray is survived by his sisters, Mary Marko and Eleanor Bennett, sister-in-law Delores Pantea; niece and caregivers, Becky and Bill Ross; numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving Ray are his children, Scott and Mark Pantea, Maggie Throckmorton and four grandchildren. Special thanks to Ray's good friend, Steve Pergins, for always helping and being there for Ray. Thank you to Heritage of Hudson and Hospice Visiting Nurse Service, for taking wonderful care of Ray. The family will receive friends Thursday 5-7 p.m. at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St. Private inurnment will be held in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of VNS, Ridgewood Road.
