Raymond H Gorbach, 84 passed away peacefully March 31, 2014 with his family at his side. Born in Akron, OH on April 18, 1929 he lived in the area his entire life. He was employed as a machinist at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for over 43 years. Ray was a member of St Sebastian's Church, Woodmen of the World Lodge 232, Highland Square NW Seniors Group, Keen Agers, and the Summit County Genealogy Society. He was an avid gardener and a scout leader. Ray loved spending time working on projects, tinkering in his workshop, and exercising with his fellow seniors. He had a big heart and was a very caring individual who enjoyed family time, especially with the love of his life, Marge. Ray, was preceded in death by his fraternal grandparents John George (Bregenz, Austria) and Mary Steinlein (Johnstown, PA); maternal grandparents Edward Blaser (Harrison, PA) and Bertha Losleben (Switzerland); father, Henry; mother, Elizabeth (Blaser); brother Carl; and sister-in-law Agnes. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 63 years, Marjorie (Curtis); children Terry (Ann), Jerry (Patty), Debbie (Frank Kroesen), and Jeff (Allison) ; grandchildren, John (Kathy), Matthew (Theresa), Brian, Scott, Hilary, Kelly, Kim, Kate (Matt), Keri, Julie and Josh; great grandchildren, Samantha and Charlie; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Ray was a devout Catholic and a great family man who had a good sense of humor and enjoyed sharing it. He touched many others in special ways that left lasting memories. The family wishes to thank Akron General Hospice Care Center for their loving and compassionate care. Family and friends are invited to Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd, Copley for Calling Hours Friday April 4, 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am Saturday, April 5, 2014 at St Sebastian's Church. A private Interment will take place at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Ray would prefer you to do something nice for someone else.
