Ray Collins, 75, of Fairlawn, passed to his eternal rest peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on August 4th. Born in Mt. Hope, WV, he had been a resident of the Akron area since 1959, and retired from Loomis Electric in 2000. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Carolyn; daughter, Teresa (Bob) Straight; sons, Timothy, Thomas and Mark (Angela); grandchildren, Lyndsey (Jim) Kruzer, Kyle (Kristen) Straight, Joshua (Brittany) Collins and Joseph Collins (Katie Magnacca); great grandchildren, Sophia, James and Julia Kruzer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of lifelong, loyal and dedicated friends. A humble, kind and generous man, he cherished his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was at one with nature, never more so than when he worked the land and rode his tractor at Boughton Farm. A high school football player, he coached a number of amateur teams and remained an avid supporter of the West Virginia Mountaineers throughout his life. His was a life well-lived abundant in its dedication to family, friends and community. He is already, and will continue to be, profoundly missed. At his request, his body has been cremated. A private memorial service celebrating his life will be for family only. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that contributions in his honor be made to Akron Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
