Ramona Marie Botzum, our beloved family matriarch for three generations, peacefully entered eternal rest surrounded by her children on January 17th, 2025.
Ramona was born June 4th, 1928, in Barberton, Ohio to Alice and Charles Kormanik. She studied education at the University of Akron and was a member of the sorority Delta Gamma. A devoted wife and mother, she instilled values of integrity, compassion, and perseverance which remained evident throughout her life. Reading was a lifelong passion equal to her unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Ramona treasured her time as a volunteer at St. Thomas Hospital followed by her tenure as a tour guide at Stan Hywet where she cultivated many endearing friendships. Nothing was more special than the private tours she gave to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband Thomas, beloved son Tom, brothers Fred Kormanik, and Charles Kormanik. Ramona is survived by Colonel James Kormanik (Alice) of San Antonio TX, Colonel Joseph Kormanik (Lydia) of Hendersonville NC, Son John Botzum (Miriam) of Orefield PA, daughters Mary Beth Koss (Tom Grady) of Cleveland OH, Susan Schweitzer (Tim) of San Antonio TX, Helen Burrell (David) of Cary NC, granddaughters Jenny Zoog (Chris), Jennifer Marks (Taylor), Katie Johnson (Chad), Shira Botzum (Jonathan) and Lexie Botzum, grandsons Jonathan Koss (Kelle), David Burrell (Stacey), Tom Schweitzer and Kevin Schweitzer. She was blessed with 19 great-grandchildren who lovingly knew her as Grandma Moni.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many caregivers who supported and loved Ramona; You are appreciated and forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in the name of Ramona to St. Sebastion Parish Foundation or Bright Focus Foundation for Macular Degeneration Research.
Visitation will be this Sunday January 26, 2025 from 5 - 7pm at the Hummel Funeral Home located at 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, OH 44321. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following day, Monday January, 27 2025 at 11:00am at St. Sebastian Parish located at 476 Mull Ave. Akron, OH 44320.
