Ralph J Bechter was born on December 29th 1932 and went to celebrate his Birthday in Heaven on December 29th 2014 with the angels that preceded him: father, Clem; mother, Theresa; sister-in-law Adeline; sister, Jean; brother-in-law Eugene Luebke; mother and father in-law Della and Owen Narmore; and brother-in-law Tom Kibble. Ralph leaves his beloved wife, Kathleen; daughter, Cindy (Terry) Bechter-Smith; and sons Owen and Michael; brothers Jim (Barb); Donny (Mary): sister Delores (Pete) Tummel and many nieces and nephews to celebrate life without him. Ralph was an active parishioner and altar server at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel in Green. He was a past member and volunteer for many years at The Akron Turner Club. Ralph retired from Ohio Edison after thirty-nine years of service. He graduated from Saint Mary's High School and attended McKim's Technical School. Ralph served as a corporal in the Korean War where his service overlapped with his brother, Jim. Ralph enjoyed boating, camping and fishing with his family and friends. Ralph was a big Indians fan and enjoyed his garden. Weekly pool nights with brothers and friends were a great entertainment for him. Calling hours will be Monday 4-7 p.m. at the Hummel Funeral Home, Exchange Street, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. A Requeim High Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, (2935 Chenoweth Rd. Akron), with Rev. Father Leo Carley officiating and private burial for friends and family immediately following the mass at Holy Cross Cemetery. Procession to form at the Chapel.
