Phyllis Woodrum

Phyllis Diane Woodrum, 75, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 21, 2024, after a brief battle with pneumonia and cancer. Phyllis was born on February 4, 1949, in Akron, Ohio. She graduated from Copley High School and attended Miami University before graduating from the University of Akron. She married the love of her life, Jim, on February 13, 1971. They resided in both Copley and Wadsworth. Phyllis was a business teacher for Akron Public Schools for many years. During her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at Stan Hywet, traveling, gardening, attending plays at Playhouse Square, watching her grandchildren in their various activities, and spending time with friends and family.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents Howard and Hetta Badgett. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jim. She is also survived by her sisters, Cindy Dolly (Mike, deceased) and Amy Hemphill (Jeff), sister-in-law, Linda DeCastro (Bill), and children, Julie Kovach (Roman) and Jim Woodrum (Taylor). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Lexi, Livi, & Lani Kovach, and Trey & Tucker Woodrum. She also has many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

A Celebration of Life is planned for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Faith Lutheran Church in Fairlawn located at 2726 West Market St. Akron, OH 44333. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens. https://stanhywet.org/memorials-tributes
