For those who knew Phyllis,
Those with whom she spent time,
You’ll understand why
This is written in rhyme
Phyllis has passed,
Gone to heaven above
At her side was her family,
Surrounding with love.
For 100 plus years,
She lived and provided
Wisdom and humor
Till her own strength subsided
All who encountered her
Knew of her wit
And knew that this lady
Was not one to quit
Her family would like to thank
All of those friends
Who made her life joyful
Right up to the end
Her neighbors, her church friends,
The ladies from bridge
Her hairdresser, caregiver
All those who did…
The smallest of gestures –
a phone call, a prayer
They all meant so much;
Your kindness so rare.
So if she could be here
For one last remark
She’d raise up a glass
Toast you all, and impart:
“Thank you to all
For you’ve made my life blessed
I’ve had a full life;
No one could have guessed;
That I’d see all I’ve seen
And share all that I’ve shared
And probably have done more
Than I’d ever have dared
But the best part of all
Is the people I’ve met
The memories we’ve made
Times we’ll never forget
So the next journey starts…
Hope they’re ready for me!
I’ve got a tee time
And a bridge game at three!
